Archives

The Holy Spirit Province Archives contains material documenting the Christian Brothers' activities in Western Australia and South Australia which commenced in 1878. These activities include such areas as child migration, agricultural schemes, educational institutions, alternative education, and refugee and indigenous welfare support and education.

The archives also administers PHIND, a computerised index detailing the location of records held in Australia for former child migrants to Catholic Homes between 1938 and 1965.

Major holdings include admission registers for former educational institutions, community annals and visitation reports, province administration records, photographs of Christian Brothers and students, textiles, and audiovisual material.

  • Endeavour to ensure the preservation of documents and other records detailing the activities, mission and ministries of the Christian Brothers in Western Australia and South Australia
  • Assist Province ministries to preserve their archives
  • Assist past residents of Province childcare institutions, and their families, in their search for information about themselves.
